Online Visual Designer x 2

Online Visual Designer X 2

Telstra is Australia's most recognised and successful information and communications technology solution providers. Our end game is to win in the market and deliver a superior customer experience. Our success depends on our people's commitment, passion, dedication, expertise, skill and knowledge. This is an outstanding opportunity to join our professional and experienced Telstra team.

Are you interested in changing the way millions of people use the web? Would you like to play a critical role in defining how people perceive and interact with digital channels and interfaces?

As a visual designer in this online design team, you'll collaborate with Interaction Designers, Researchers, business stakeholders and senior management to help define a vision, direct internal and external teams of visual designers and work toward creating the best possible digital experience for our customers.

You need to be passionate, creative, highly-collaborative and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Most of all, you need to be able to produce and communicate inspiring visual concepts to drive development forward; and then be solid enough to guide production of visual elements through to final delivery. You want to make people's lives better, and be proud of the experiences you've contributed to.

You'll also need to be:

  • A broad thinker: Able to break out of the box and think differently. You know there isn't one single answer to a design problem and can readily bring three more to the table at short notice.
  • Fantastically talented: Proven ability to design elegant, appealing and usable interactions. Your portfolio not only shows how great you are at online visual design, but also that you have a solid understanding of interaction design and delivering great experiences.
  • Able to play well with others: You're comfortable in collaborative team environments and communicate well with everyone, designers and engineers alike. You listen, you absorb, you understand.
  • Less conventional, and constantly looking for improvements: You're designs need to shake things up and inspire people. You'll be expected to lift everyone's game by showing them how to work differently, while adapting and learning what works well from the existing team. Yes, we're a corporate but you don't have to wear that tie if you can deliver stunning visual designs time and time again.
  • A great communicator and a likeable person: It's not enough to create a great visual design for a website; you also need to be able to sell it. You're not afraid to stand up and confidently deliver your new and unconventional design to anyone, at any level of the business. You can also specify and document your designs so developers know precisely how you want it to turn out.
  • Familiar with UCD process and activities: You're the visual designer, but you need to speak the language of interaction design. You can demonstrate not only an understanding of UCD activities, but can also show us how you've used them to make your designs the best they can possibly be.

It will help if you:

  • Have an amazing visual design portfolio.
  • Have solid experience
  • Can build prototypes/interactive demos as well as the visuals (Your choice of tool).
  • Are able to show us how you've done great digital designs
  • Can demonstrate how you have led design efforts.
  • Found this ad and responded to it.

We're a team of strong interaction designers and usability specialists. We've got a tough job at times, but we enjoy our day and get a kick out of what we do. You will too.
